Political Actors Attacking Their Competitors

Home / Political Actors Attacking Their Competitors

Election and politics are complicated. It is a very sensitive issue to talk about. If one decided to run for a particular position in the government, he or she cannot be sure that the wanted position will automatically be theirs, because definitely there will be a competitor.

Fighting for the position could possibly lead to negative campaigning. When we say negative campaigning, candidates are focusing more on the negative or bad attributes of their competitors rather than focusing on the platforms or their plans for their future people or State.

Negative campaigning is somewhat a direct attack to the competitor. Sadly, what they are going to do is to constantly find “holes” and disseminate the bad information to people. They do this to win votes without considering the mentality of the voters with regards to electoral campaign and the politics a s a whole. This also affects democracy, manipulating the minds of people who will be voting in a negative way.

Public officials and servants should always be the best example and role model. Negative campaigning from the name of the term itself will just make politics even more complicated and will give people the worst perceptions they can have to the government.

Eliminating a competitor is not as easy as having a schedule in a clinic to get rid of acne scars. Eliminating your competitor is not asking him or her to stay back and quit being a candidate for the same position you are longing for. Getting rid of your competitor should be focusing on what you really want to do when you get the position. It should be all about the plans and promises you will be telling your people. Your pure heart of serving the public and not your desire to just get the position for personal reasons or prestige.
